10 PROPERTIES "UNDER CONTRACT" THIS WEEK IN PERDIDO KEY

Sales activity has increased since BP placed the temporary cap on the oil leak two weeks ago, which is still holding firm.  Ten new properties are "Under Contract" this past week, which is the highest activity seen in months on the island.  The sales were a mix of Gulf-front, Riverfront, and golf course properties.

BEACHES ARE BEAUTIFUL IN PERDIDO KEY!

It is Saturday, July 31st and as I look down from the 6th floor of Capri Condominiums, I see gorgeous blue-green waters, beachgoers lounging, kids playing in the water, and most comforting of all...oil free beaches.  While it is safe to say more oil will likely surface on the beaches over the next few months, we are not seeing oil on the beaches in Perdido Key at this time.  In fact, earlier today, I watched a large school of rays swimming close to shore...the first I have seen in several months.  There are also reports of increased dolphin sightings by many.  For those of you considering a last minute vacation before the kids go back to school...pack it up and hit the beach!  They are beautiful!

BP Oil Well No Longer Leaking

I am happy to post the GREAT news!  As of 2:25pm today, BP says the oil leak has been COMPLETELY CONTAINED.  Although the newly installed cap is a temporary measure until the relief wells can be completed in early August, the cap is thus far working!  The company is now conducting a "well integrity test" to see if the well can remain closed until next month when it can be permanently closed with cement.  We are hopeful!

 

This news comes at a great time...riding the tails of an unprecedented Jimmy Buffett concert and busy July 4th holiday.  Here along the coast, beachgoers continue to enjoy warm weather and gulf coast hospitality in spite of the bleak, national media coverage showing oil-covered beaches.  Here is a photo taken during 4th of July in front of Palacio Condominiums on Perdido Key.  Spread the good news!
